ECB’s green bond plan is insufficient, NGO says

ECB plan shies away from excluding high carbon output companies, says Reclaim Finance

The European Central Bank plan to green its corporate bond holdings does not go far enough, an environmental campaigning organisation argues in a new report.

On September 19, the ECB unveiled a programme to tilt its corporate bond reinvestments towards companies with better records in reducing their CO2 emissions. But the ECB’s plan falls short of excluding specific companies or economic sectors from its asset purchases.
