Chief economist stresses ECB is ready to expand stimulus after Lagarde appeared to downplay risks
The European Central Bank’s chief economist Philip Lane has stressed it is ready to increase its stimulus if necessary, in comments in a blogpost today (September 11).
Lane’s comments are considerably more forceful about risks facing the eurozone than the statement by ECB president Christine Lagarde in the monetary policy press conference the previous day.
