Brainard cautious over further hikes in interest rates
Fed governor says she will be watching inflation “carefully” over the coming months
A governor on the Federal Reserve’s Board has said she would be comfortable with the central bank reducing the size of its balance sheet “soon” but issued words of caution regarding the future path of interest rates.
Speaking in New York on July 11, Lael Brainard said she would want to monitor inflation developments “carefully” while moving “cautiously” with further increases in the federal funds rate over the coming months.
