Trump says he would probably let Powell continue on Fed board

Former US president Donald Trump said he would likely allow Jerome Powell to serve out his term as chair of the Federal Reserve Board until 2028, if Trump is elected again.

“I’ve had my own disputes with him,” Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg. “But no, I would, I would let him serve it out especially if I thought he was doing the right thing.”

Trump hinted that his view of “doing the right thing” was to keep interest rates unchanged. “Right now, you have to keep rates where they are
