Former Lesotho governor becomes finance minister
Matlanyane entered electoral politics after leaving central bank in 2021
The first woman governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho, Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane, has been appointed finance minister.
Matlanyane is serving in the cabinet of Sam Matekane, leader of the Revolution for Prosperity party, which won a plurality in elections on October 7. Matlanyane ran as an RFP candidate in the Qalabane constituency, winning the seat with 42.2% of the vote.
