Raskin Fed role in doubt as key senators voice opposition
Manchin says appointment would “politicise” Fed with opposition to fossil fuels
Several key US senators, including Democrat Joe Manchin, announced that they would not vote to confirm Sarah Bloom Raskin to the Federal Reserve Board, casting further doubt on her troubled nomination process.
President Joe Biden nominated Raskin to a four-year term as vice-chair of supervision, and a 10-year term as member of the Board of Governors, in January.
Manchin, a conservative Democrat representing West Virginia, said on March 14 that Raskin was hostile to funding the fossil fuel
