Gita Gopinath to leave IMF
Fund’s first female chief economist is set to return to Harvard
Gita Gopinath is stepping down as the International Monetary Fund’s chief economist to return to her position at Harvard University.
The IMF said Gopinath would depart in January 2022 “as planned”. Harvard already extended her leave of absence “on an exceptional basis”, taking her tenure at the IMF to three years.
