Julio Velarde set to accept new term as Peruvian governor

New left-wing president said in June he intended to re-appoint long-serving governor

Julio Velarde will continue for one more term as governor of the Central Bank of Peru (BCRP), according to various news organisations.

Governor since 2006, Velarde is thought to have accepted a new five-year term on August 9. The decision followed a series of conversations with incoming finance minister Pedro Francke, says Bloomberg, quoting an anonymous source. Reuters also reported the news.
