People: Yellen to leave Fed in February; Curaçao names temporary governor

United States: Janet Yellen has chosen not to see out her term on the board of the US central bank, following the appointment of Jerome Powell as the new Federal Reserve chairman.

In her resignation letter to president Donald Trump, Yellen said it has been a “privilege and honour” to serve the US central bank over the course of three decades.

“I am enormously proud to have worked alongside many dedicated and highly able women and men… I am gratified that the financial system is much stronger
