BIS rewrites statutes to boost board diversity
Changes reduce the influence of the BIS’s European directors
The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has made a rare change to its statutes, freeing up space on the board for more diverse global representation.
The BIS announced the changes to Article 27 of its statutes, governing board membership, at its annual general meeting on June 25. The alterations had first to be approved by the governments of the BIS’s six founding states: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK.
