Veteran party official to lead new bodies overseeing China’s economic policy

The Chinese leadership has appointed vice-premier He Lifeng to key leadership roles at two Communist party-led committees overseeing China’s financial sector.

He is now director of the office of the Central Financial Commission (CFC), Financial News, a publication managed by the People’s Bank of China, reported on November 6. The report also described He as the party chief of a separate Central Financial Work Commission (CFWC).

Also on November 6, the US government announced that Treasury
