Indonesian finance minister being considered as next governor

Current governor Perry Warjiyo says he is willing to serve second term as president weighs up candidates

Indonesia’s finance minister Mulyani Indrawati is among candidates being considered as the next central bank governor, Reuters reported.

Incumbent Bank Indonesia governor Perry Warjiyo’s five-year term ends in May. Indonesian president Joko Widodo is also considering appointing Warjiyo to a second term.

Indrawati was managing director at World Bank Group for six years before Widodo appointed her as finance minister in July 2016. She also served as finance minister between December 2005 and May
