Race to replace Agustín Carstens enters final stages

With less than a month to go before Bank of Mexico governor Carstens retires, analysts review potential candidates

On November 29, Agustín Carstens will leave the Bank of Mexico to become the Bank for International Settlements’ first general manager from an emerging market economy.

Nine months after announcing his retirement as governor of the institution, a position he has held for seven years, the government is yet to name a successor.
