Basel Committee chair reflects on CCyB effectiveness

The chair of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, Pablo Hernández de Cos, has called for further work on the design of macro-prudential tools under Basel III, including the counter-cyclical capital buffer, or CCyB.

Speaking at a conference co-hosted by the Bank for International Settlements and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority on March 24, Hernández de Cos said the Basel Committee has been evaluating the efficacy of the Basel III reforms.
