The South African Reserve Bank’s governor again said the country should not yet adopt quantitative easing policies, despite several government figures calling for them.

Lesetja Kganyago said in a speech on August 12 that in South Africa there was “a surprising amount of interest in QE”. The Sarb’s independence, policies and mandate are all at the centre of a controversy among politicians in the ruling African National Congress.
