Cross-border claims growing at fastest rate since crisis – BIS

Non-banks continue to see the fastest growth, latest international banking data shows

Cross-border bank claims are now growing at the fastest rate since the global financial crisis, the latest figures from the Bank for International Settlements show.

After a brief slowdown in 2018, cross-border bank lending rebounded strongly this year, hitting a growth rate of 6% year on year in the second quarter, figures published today (October 24) show. Growth in lending to “all major sectors” increased, the BIS says in analysis accompanying the data. Outstanding claims were worth $31
