Oman launches first denomination in new banknote series

New series incorporates improved security features and elements for the visually impaired

The Central Bank of Oman has released a new 50 rial ($130) banknote, the first of a new banknote series due to enter circulation later this year.

In a statement, the central bank says the banknote commemorates Qaboos bin Said Al Said, the former sultan of the country who held power for 50 years. He died in January 2020 and is widely recognised as having increased Oman’s presence internationally.
