Bank of Japan policy board member Takehiro Sato is "personally concerned" by the ongoing disinflation in the eurozone, and today warned policy-makers that inflation expectations "have already started to decline" in the currency area.

Annual HICP inflation dropped to 0.5% in May, and the European Central Bank (ECB) is widely expected to ease monetary policy this afternoon. Nonetheless, ECB president Mario Draghi insists deflation is not on the horizon.

Sato acknowledged that long-term inflation
