Atlanta Fed president calls for QE caution

The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta president Dennis Lockhart yesterday called for caution from his Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) colleagues when deciding how to scale back the Fed's asset purchases.

Lockhart said recent labour market and inflation data had failed to provide any additional clarity on the United States' economy and, in the face of this uncertainty, the FOMC should avoid committing to a "precise, beginning-to-end path" for ending its asset purchases.
