Trichet: lessons for EU financial integration

Jean-Claude Trichet, president of the ECB, set out some of the key lessons for greater financial integration among EU economies in a recent speech.

Delivering the Jean Monnet memorial lecture at the European Business School on 29 November, Trichet listed five provisional lessons from the process of economic, monetary and financial integration in Europe so far.

He called on the ECB to speed up financial integration, particularly in the light of a recent study about the US economy suggesting that
