US main target for petrodollar recycling

The United States continue to be the main recipient of oil-related financial funds from Gulf countries, according to a new research from the European Central Bank.

However, the paper, which surveys the six Gulf states that make up the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), also finds that diversification in asset classes, countries and currencies seems to play an important role for the economies, who during the recent period of rising oil prices emerged as a major net supplier of capital.
