Credit card transactions rise: HKMA lending survey

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority's Credit Card Lending survey results for the fourth quarter of 2010, published on Monday, found evidence of a rise in credit card use in Hong Kong.

The survey, based on discussions with authorised institutions and their subsidiaries engaged in credit card business, showed that total card receivables grew by 12% to HK$87.5 billion ($11.2 billion) in the fourth quarter of 2010, compared with a 5% increase in the third quarter.
