New IMF Survey

The latest IMF Survey includes articles on the Fund's role in exchange rate surveillance, the conclusions of its most recent "Global Financial Stability Report", and the economic outlook for Belgium, the Middle East and Central Asia.

On the issue of exchange rate surveillance the Survey notes that the Fund's Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) recently called for "a major refocus of efforts" to remedy the "effectiveness gap" in the Fund's advice on exchange rate policy, a core IMF function.
