Australia: Guy Debelle has been appointed deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) by the country's finance minister, the bank announced today (September 2).

Debelle has been the RBA's assistant governor with responsibility for financial markets since March 2007. In that role, he oversaw the central bank's operations in domestic and global financial markets.

Debelle chairs two bodies for the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), its markets committee and its foreign exchange
