Bolivia to get new largest denomination banknote
New 500 boliviano note will be part of first new series in almost 30 years; central bank estimates the project will cost around $45 million
The Central Bank of Bolivia has issued a tender for the printing of its new family of banknotes, which will include a 500 boliviano ($72) denomination, planned for launch in 2018.
It will be the first time since 1987 that the central bank has issued an entirely new series; in the past, only tweaks to denominations were made.
Governor Marcelo Zabalaga said at a press conference on May 5 that the bank was keen to integrate new security features in the new note. He acknowledged the current series
