Liquidity issues demand further work, says BoE’s Cunliffe
BoE deputy wants better data collection and new stress tests
Central banks and regulators need to launch new measures to tackle the fragility of market liquidity, Bank of England deputy governor Jon Cunliffe said today (October 22).
The past year has been characterised by numerous episodes of violent market moves, Cunliffe told a conference hosted by the British Bankers' Association. He pointed to the removal of the Swiss franc peg, the sudden crash in US Treasuries in October 2014 and the "Bund tantrum".
