Al-Qaeda claims responsibility for fatal central bank attack

The Islamic State of Iraq, an Iraqi branch of Al-Qaeda, an Islamic fundamentalist group, on Thursday claimed responsibility for the bombing on Sunday that targeted the country's central bank and left at least 18 dead.

Alsumaria, an Iraqi broadcaster, and international media outlets including Reuters and Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that the group had posted a statement on several internet fora taking responsibility for the attack. "Only five men armed with guns and wearing explosive vests
