Zeti says ringgit strength reflecting economy

The strength of the ringgit reflects the underlying fundamentals and the economic conditions at the moment, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said Monday 5 February.

When asked by reporters if BNM would defend the ringgit at 3.5 against the US dollar, Zeti said the ringgit would be monitored, adding that it was important to have orderly market condition which was vital for the economy.
