Dual banking system viable in Malaysia - Zeti Aziz

The dual banking system - the side by side Islamic and conventional banking operations approach - has proven to be workable in Malaysia although it may not be applicable or suitable for others, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Governor Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said on Feb 21, 2001.

She said Islamic banking needs to be assessed not only by its syariah aspects but also other factors such as efficiency, effectiveness, innovation as well as the end result. The vision in Islamic banking and finance in Malaysia
