Vietnam central bank agrees on bank merging plan

Vietnam's central bank has agreed in principle to the merger of two commercial banks but a final decision will be announced after merging procedures are completed, a bank official said on Friday.

The official from the State Bank of Vietnam's banking departmnent said the Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank) based in Ho Chi Minh City has been agreed to merge with the Thanh Thang Commercial Bank in southern Can Tho province. She did not give further details.
