Briefing, analysis and research are monetary policy officials’ top duties

Average departmental staff remains below 40 persons

Monetary policy staff perform a mix of duties, but standing out as the main functions are briefing policy-makers, macroeconomic analysis and research, the Monetary Policy Benchmarks 2024 finds.

Responses from 46 participating institutions show that briefing policy-makers (97.8%) is the number one function of employees in the department. Macroeconomic analysis (95.7%) and research (95.7%) are also very widely performed by staff in the unit. However, the officials rarely perform market operations
