Financial stability budget increases in most central banks

But resources less likely to be sufficient in Africa and lower-middle income institutions

Most financial stability departments appear to have experienced a budget increase in the past 12 months, year-on-year data from the Financial Stability Benchmarks 2024 reveals.

A total of 19 central banks provided data on their annual budget. Thirteen of these respondents also addressed this question in the 2023 benchmark. A year-on-year analysis of the figures shows that eight (61.5%) of the 13 central banks boosted financial stability budgets in the past year. But five (38.5%) institutions saw
