Alberto Cavallo says online competition has changed pricing dynamics on- and offline
New research by economist Alberto Cavallo finds the pricing behaviour of online retailers such as Amazon impacts price dynamics across the economy.
The Harvard economist bases his results on the huge quantities of on- and offline pricing data collected as part of the Billion Prices Project, an initiative he helped found alongside Roberto Rigobon. The pair won Central Banking’s 2018 award for economics for their work.
