Russian public to vote on new banknote designs

Winning designs announced in October 2016, notes to enter circulation in 2017

The Russian public have been invited to nominate landmarks to appear on the new 200 and 2,000 ruble banknotes, while the final selections will also be determined by popular vote.

Neither denomination has been issued in Russia before – although a 200 ruble note was briefly issued across the Soviet Union before it was dissolved.
