BoE’s Bean named next president of Royal Economic Society
The Royal Economics Society has named Bank of England (BoE) deputy governor, Charles Bean, as its next president. Bean will take over the role from Richard Blundell in April 2013.
Bean is a member of the BoE's Monetary Policy Committee and was named a deputy governor of the UK central bank in 2008. Before that he was the BoE's chief economist, a role he took up in 2000. His term as deputy governor of the central bank will expire in mid-2013.
