Lessons for monetary policymakers: BoE’s Dale
Spencer Dale, the chief economist at the Bank of England and member of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), on Tuesday asked what lessons monetary policymakers can draw from developments over the past year.
Dale also combated some of the concerns and criticisms over quantitative easing (QE), and discussed challenges for 2012.
In a speech in London titled ‘Prospects for Monetary Policy: Learning the Lessons from 2011,' Dale spent considerable time on "QE myth-busting", as he termed it.
