SARB issues bleak Quarterly Bulletin

The South African Reserve Bank released its December quarterly bulletin on Thursday and set a gloomy tone with its updates.

"The South African economy continued to expand in the third quarter of 2011 but at a lacklustre pace," the document laments. Third-quarter production was "held back" by industrial action that "especially made itself felt in the mining and manufacturing sectors", it added.
