Bank of Israel names new deputy governor

Bank of Israel governor Stanley Fischer has named Tel Aviv University economics professor Zvi Eckstein for the position of deputy governor, Haaretz reported.

The report said the nomination will be submitted to the new cabinet for approval at an upcoming meeting. Eckstein will replace two outgoing deputies, Avia Spivak and Meir Sokoler, whose terms of office ended in February.

Eckstein earned a Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota in 1981.
