Argentina and Brazil join forces over Fund rules

Brazil and Argentina joined forces on Tuesday 16 March, asking the International Monetary Fund to remain flexible regarding their budget surpluses.

Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his Argentina counterpart, Nestor Kirchner, met in Rio de Janeiro to sign an agreement calling for flexible budget surplus demands by the IMF so both nations can continue investing in their infrastructures to promote economic growth.

According to IMF loan agreements, both nations must maintain budget
