Dallas Fed's Fisher on trade

In the speech given on 14 June Richard Fisher of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas said trade with China is helping raise our productivity and lower our prices.

"China exports 36 percent and imports 34 percent relative to GDP. So, they are buying from abroad-both consumer goods and intermediate inputs for the production process. South Korea has a $30.6 billion trade surplus with China, up from just $185 million in 1992. Taiwan's trade surplus with China is $17.4 billion-up from a $748 million
