Canada's Jenkins on Asia and the Global Economy

In a speech on 'Asia and the Global Economy' given on 30 March, Paul Jenkins of the Bank of Canada explores the issues arising from the growing importance of Asian emerging-market economies, notably China and India, in the global economy.

Jenkins says that the economic ascent of China and India represents a formidable competitive challenge for producers everywhere. But it also brings with it many benefits, not just for those two countries, but for the rest of the world.

He then goes on to
