Outlook clouded but inflation to ease: ECB

Even though the war in Iraq has increased uncertainty somewhat the European Central Bank said on Thursday in its monthly bulletin that it expected inflation to drop back below its 2 percent target this year.

The European Central Bank (ECB) said the war in Iraq has clouded the economic outlook this year but it added that it still expects inflation to fall below its 2pc target this year.

In its monthly report, the central bank said while a modest rate of growth should be expected this
