SEC’s proposed rule-changes have “ruffled feathers” at Treasury department
US Securities and Exchange Commission efforts to take the lead on US Treasury market structure reform are exacerbating long-simmering tensions with the Department of the Treasury, according to regulatory sources, further complicating an already fraught and delicate task.
“The Treasury and the SEC aren’t on the same page on nearly anything,” says a former SEC official. “There’s always been tension, but it’s been worse [lately].”
